Theta Nu Omega Programs

In addition to supporting Alpha Kappa Alpha's International Program, Theta Nu Omega Chapter has provided activities that enhance the lives of the youth and elderly of Southwest Florida. The nucleus of Theta Nu Omega's programs include community service, providing opportunities for higher education, social, ethical and moral growth and enhancing the self-concept of people of color.

Theta Nu Omega programs can be categorized into the following:

Education & Scholarships

Southwest Florida Reading Festival

Theta Nu Omega Chapter awards scholarships each year to students as they begin their college studies. The Education Committee coordinates our participation in the Southwest Florida Reading Festival each spring.

Little Miss Fashionetta & Debutante Cotillion

The Little Miss Fashionetta pageant is open to elementary age young ladies and the Debutante Cotillion is for high school young ladies. These events are usually held in alternating years. During the weeks preceding the event, the young ladies participate in workshops and field trips that will teach a variety of social and communication skills. The proceeds from these events fund the scholarship programs.

Pink Ice Masquerade Ball

The Pink Ice Masquerade Ball is Theta Nu Omega's latest signature event. The event is held annually in October. Proceeds earned from the event benefit scholarships for Southwest Florida high school seniors. This event's attire is formal.

Holiday Gift Wrap

Theta Nu Omega Chapter was offered the opportunity to participate in gift wrapping at Barnes & Noble bookstore as a “service to the community project”. The chapter accepted the offer to donate time gift wrapping starting the Friday after Thanksgiving and ending Christmas Eve. There is no charge for the service. Donations are appreciated. All monies collected are used for scholarships.
